Poinsetta Cocktail

Been easing off the cocktails since I’m on the ol’ diet kick 🙂 But I do have the day off tomorrow so maybe I should indulge in one of these to celebrate my hard work for the week thus far…

Here’s another creation from the Food Network. I made my own proportions and all but the general idea is still there. This is actually a light not sweetness cocktail for once! It is very refreshing and perfect for a holiday party.

Here’s what you need:

2oz Vodka

2oz Cranberry Juice

10z Orange Juice

3oz Champagne

Orange Zest (optional)

Cranberries (optional)

First I took my muddler and a little muscle and crushed the ice with the fresh cranberries to make a cocktail slurry if you will. If you have that kind of fridge with the ice crusher by turning the lever, don’t waste your time with this step 🙂 Someday….

Then add your ingredients from clear to cloudy (cranberry juice being last). With the zest of an orange and a skewer of some cranberries you’re set!

I really like this drink because it looks so seasonal. Despite the red color the champagne is what you taste most…..its the perfect punch to sip on this holiday season!

Happy mixing….and ice crushing if you have to go the muddler route like me 🙂
