Hello Readers! Busy weekend….we went to a wedding to celebrate the marriage of our friends “The Hubbards”. Anyways, didn’t leave much time for crafting (or cleaning for that matter….) but I did whip up this adorable necklace for the big day!
This is the simplest DIY jewelry ever….I literally made it on the ferry ride to the wedding. As my husband was laughing and looking at me with disapprovement (“Um why didn’t you just BUY a necklace!?”), I did it! So here’s an idea of how to make your own Chunky Pearly Chain Necklace!
Here’s what you need:
- Pearls or fake pearl strands: 240x8mm pearls (enough for 4+ strands)
- Jewelry chain: 48″ of antique-finished brass wide link chain (enough for 2+ strands)
- Satin Ribbon: 24″ of cream satin ribbon
Step 1: String pearls into single strands. Then cut chains into single chains of desired length (roughly 20-24″), slightly longer than pearl strands.
Step 2: Line up all strands of pearls and chains, then wrap and weave chain throughout the pearly strands. This part can just be tentative….you can continue to style the necklace everytime you wear it, so it doesn’t have to be perfect!
Step 3: Finish it by tying 2×6″ satin ribbons to each side. I looped the satin through the pearls and chains and tied a double knot.
Finished! How easy was that?? I love this necklace! I always see stuff like this at Forever 21 and Target and think…..”That’s just a bunch of pearls and chains, I could make it!”. You can easily change out the ribbon to match your outfit, and there are endless ways to style it by changing the chain weaving/wrapping.
This is a must try….so find some old pearly strands that aren’t getting any use and wrap them together with some chains and ribbon to create this new stylish necklace 🙂
To my crafty readers: What’s your latest DIY jewelry project!?
I like you, haven’t had any time lately for anything.
